What now? I keep hearing a soft muffled little noise where there was nothing when I crashed out earlier. Sneaking forward I peered down from my perch in the loft. Little eyes peered right back up at me and I almost fell. Then I grinned and started down. I froze. Someone was coming, so scrambling back up I hid. Two or three guys come walking in and you can tell they ain’t poor and they sure as heck aren’t shy. Seems like they’re here for whatever is going on in town and I’m not going to show myself. Probably take one look at me and turn me in and I’ll get to explain myself all over again.
Stop right below me. I’m trapped and like it or not I’ve become a captive audience. Two more people show and they have some sort of parley. I’m thinking there’s some sort of deal going on cause these guys produce packages of goodies that don’t come cheap. Each one plunks down their plunder and they do some more quiet talking, then poof, I’m by myself again.
LOOKING FOR CHRISTMAS
I was looking for Christmas
But it could not be found
Though I looked here and there
Gosh! I searched all around
Nothing in the attic
Zero beneath the stair
Peered into the cupboards
The cupboards were all bare
Was not at the shopping mall
Nowhere around the store
Naught but sales or gimmicks
To make one purchase more
Not out in the countryside
Nor town as I drove my car
Then I gazed overhead
Saw there oh my! What a star
I thought me a minute
T’was not very much more
Myself coursed with magic
That’s what Christmas is for
Christmas found me easy
A simple task once you see
Love finds you Christmas
It is from God: and for free
