– A U T H O R –
I believe the actual quote is: “The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men. Gang aft a-gley.” Translation: “The best laid plans of mice can still go wrong.” How true is that traveling down the road of life? More often than not, you’ve got all these great ideas of how life is going to go; it doesn’t. So, these few lines are dedicated to life, every twisty, turny bit of it.
FINDING LIFE
Somehow best laid plans seem to go haywire,
Calm pre-planned future gets hot, catches fire.
Suddenly, well-bound book loses binding,
Endless trail twists, highway curved, I’m finding.
Many malign me, with no axe to grind,
Way comes unraveled, through traffic unkind.
Blinding revelation, this ain’t quite route life showed,
Nature of man, force detours down unknown road.
Headlong, forget normal, won’t bother whining,
Never that simple, each path intertwining.
Maybe some rapids, where fast water flows,
What happened too easy, God only knows.
Strangers keep shoving, spirit slowly bends,
Know turnoff somewhere; turnpike never ends.
Once in a while, duck head, ease up on load,
Massage mind in hiding, so brain won’t explode.
Soul clings to saneness, keep up with the race,
Today’s way of travel paint smile on face.
Highs and lows caused by life, cut deep, I’m finding,
Street signs turned about; this road’s long and winding.
