Wonderful, me too, what a time to be alive. We will be celebrating 145 years of American liberty in a few days. What exactly does that mean to you? Fireworks, partying, anything else come to mind? If you can’t figure it out, I pity you. That flag flapping in the wind is not just decoration. To those who desecrate or despise our flag, in my humble opinion, you are irrational and a product of an environment condoning such actions. However, thank your lucky stars. You live in a land where we allow the unpopular opinion to have a voice, as well as the one in people’s hearts. Elsewhere, you might be shot for such activities. To our soldiers, as well as every citizen patriot in this country, I salute you. This land, you, me, our children, will endure. God bless America!
INDEPENDENCE DAY
A few men met in seventeen seventy-six,
Does anyone here care what lay on their heart?
King’s government holds Americans down,
Boys, it’s about time to get a new start.
They drew up on a big piece of paper,
A constitution, to forever be.
Would be no more of king or taxation,
Claimed our American government free.
English cared not a bit for this wisdom,
Independence, on that, don’t place your bet.
Still, they signed it on the fourth of July,
One day Americans never forget!
We took on the king, with all his armies,
Hid behind every rock, hill, and tree,
Kicked those Tory rears clear back to England
Created this great land for you and me.
Nobody knows how we got the job done,
We’re just a bunch of clodhoppers, you see.
Now standing in the shadow of greatness,
Men who envisioned America free.
