Anyway, thought about how many loyal friends I have. If you are like me, real compatriots can be counted on one hand. Think about it, how many people do you know, at work or in life, who are upright, stick to their guns, and still have your back? Not very many if you are honest with yourself. This is for those few, often unmentioned, and too much taken for granted. Yet when the chips are down, they got you covered. Did you fill up one hand, bet not?
LOYAL
Does life contain ethics, steady and strong,
Bound to your ideals, be you right or wrong.
In dirt side by side, face covered with soil,
Stick through the hard times, then are you loyal?
Straight up in beliefs, uncompromising,
There when the call comes, strength not surprising.
Ready with answer, or stand in turmoil,
Not run or bail, should things come to a boil.
Unqualified, brave, be it muscle or pen,
Staunch, knocked down first time; let’s do it again.
Odds not in friends favor, problems uncoil,
Never just leaving, can pal call you loyal?
Brave, when running just might be the ticket,
Sturdy in life, firm, just cannot kick it.
Be you peasant, high class, used as a foil,
Morals are priceless, inside you’re royal.
Is it in your heart, if no outward trace?
Can you say we tried, lost, still ran the race?
Through thick and thin, always there during toil,
Walk away heart full, know well you’re loyal.
