– A U T H O R –
Am I the only one smelling fear oozing from pores of one who knows he’s wrong but persists, even to the point of taking away money and personal property? Is it solely my imagination watching faceless mounted horsemen riding down defenseless people? Do these eyes alone, see unknown, no badge, no ID, armored thugs lashing hands of old Canadians for daring to love their country; kicking and beating unarmed, unresisting citizens? Do you refuse to see our intangible wonders, freedom, and democracy beseeching you; no? Then does your credo, morals, and ethics include being a brother and sister, a lover of life as we know it? Are you willing to stand, stare injustice, backed by black-garbed goons in the face, to say change is needed, is coming? Then you are friend, a breath of fresh air, a free wind; nobody shackles a patriot, bravo. Cry Canada, we hear!
CRY CANADA
Magnificent land, fields, lakes, wood, and mountain,
Wildlife amazing, fish way beyond countin'.
Men and women strong-willed clawed out homes with axe,
Despot ruler tries to break spirits, not backs.
Cry Canada!
Polar bears neighbors, we’re but the fringe says he,
We make up this land; best to just let us be.
Independent forever, how we survive,
Won’t live in chains; that’s neither life nor alive.
Listen Canada!
Cripple good traders, who carry our life’s blood,
Drag Canadians shackled through snow and mud.
Stand in gilded hall where all’s shielded and warm,
Insulting us truckers, braving ice, sleet, or storm.
Feel Canada!
They move to take our homes, big trucks, even cash,
Capital’s troops beat us, guns, old men they lash.
What’s next? Do government goose-steppers appear?
Does life become memory of what we hold dear?
Scream Canada!
Government’s gone too far; enough is enough,
Must we bleed to be free, else call fancy bluff?
This is our home, see free flag overhead fly,
Beat down’s, not beaten, all the world hears our cry!
Cry Canada!
