– A U T H O R –
Is it natural? Did older Americans then I carve it out way up there? Who knows, let your imagination fly with the eagles on this one. I can tell you my uncle found a 500 years-old skeleton in a cave not fifty yards from this place. With that in mind, put yourself up there; I did. Nothing is impossible in this world if you believe. Later, Steve.
Home in the Air
It caught my fancy forty years ago.
Memory saw the same place up high in the air,
That one room apartment under the bluffs,
I thought, ”why would people want to live way up there?”
A scene in answer, appeared in my head,
Much the same as when this home popped into my sight.
The difference was magical, like now,
For my mind beheld across years and through night.
Occupants hug a slim path up to the door,
One I know is tricky, from climbing years ago.
A wrong step up there could spell disaster,
Tread careful, so not to land on hard rocks below.
Tiny cook-fire burns low, dark black as ink.
Night creatures begin to hunt, a shadow of bear.
Paws touch the trail leading three stories high.
Feet too wide for path to take it safely up there.
Owners sleep while the bear leaves far below,
All remains peaceful, danger passed by in the night.
Morning sun on a print tells the story.
High bluff house means safety, without having to fight.
